Believe it or not, what we have stored inside our negative belief system has a huge impact on the quality of our life. Every choice we make, action we take or thought we think is a result of what we believe to be true about ourselves.
As a Life Coach, I frequently come across the following core negative beliefs when dealing with my clients:
I am not worthy
I am not deserving
I am unlovable
The trouble is, holding onto these mouldy old beliefs can really rob you of your dreams and impact your self-esteem. If that wasn’t scary enough, most of our negative beliefs are not even ours to start with but have been passed onto us from our family, friends and other circumstances. In fact, we soaked up most of our negative beliefs before we had even reached the ripe of age of 5 so let’s get honest, do these beliefs really fit you anymore?
I must admit, I am guilty of being someone who carried around those 3 beliefs for most of my life. These poxy beliefs got me into so much heartache and pain including spending 5 years in an abusive relationship as I didn’t believe I was worthy or deserved any better. The belief that I was unlovable also didn’t give me much encouragement to leave or seek support from other people in my life.
Negative beliefs don’t just appear in one area of your life. They spill there tentacles into every important decision and opportunity in your day, preventing you from taking action to fulfill your dreams and flooding your mind with fear. They can keep you stuck in unhappy careers, relationships and cause you much distress and self-doubt.
Please do remember, that you are an adult now, so you don’t need to buy into those beliefs anymore. You can heal yourself and learn to replace any negative messages with positive beliefs that really do fit the person you are today.
