One of the main reasons people don’t end toxic relationships is because they’re afraid to be alone. There’s a deep-seated fear in many that to be alone is to be a failure, to be lost. If they don’t have their partner, a partner, any partner, they have no plans, no aspirations, no dates to keep. They identify as being one half of a whole, rather than being whole all by themselves.
