Copyright and DMCA Policy
Last updated: May 23, 2026
This page explains our position on the quotes we share, our good-faith approach to attribution, and how to request the removal of content under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and similar laws in other countries.
Our Position on Quotes
Live Life Happy curates short, attributed quotes for the purposes of education, commentary, criticism, and noncommercial inspiration. We believe this use qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law (17 U.S.C. § 107) and the equivalent doctrines in other countries.
We do not claim copyright over the quoted text itself. Where a quote can be traced to an identifiable author, we make a good-faith effort to credit that author. Where the origin of a quote is unclear or disputed, we attribute it as "Author Unknown" or omit it entirely.
We are a small, independent site. If you are the author or rights holder of a quote on this site and you would prefer it be removed, we will do so promptly. You do not need to file a formal legal notice. A simple, polite request through our contact page is enough.
Reporting Copyright Infringement (DMCA Takedown Notice)
If you believe content on this site infringes your copyright, you may send us a written DMCA notice. To be valid, the notice must include all of the following information, as required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3):
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or person authorized to act on their behalf.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (or, if multiple works are covered by a single notice, a representative list of those works).
- Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing, including its location (URL) on the site, with enough detail for us to locate it.
- Your contact information, including your full legal name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on their behalf.
Send your DMCA notice through our contact page with the subject line "DMCA Takedown Notice." We will review and act on valid notices promptly, typically within 7 business days.
Counter-Notice
If we have removed material in response to a DMCA notice and you believe the removal was in error, you may submit a counter-notice. A valid counter-notice must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was removed and the location at which it appeared before removal.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief that the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your full legal name, address, and telephone number.
- A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court in the judicial district where your address is located (or, if outside the United States, any judicial district in which we may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original DMCA notice or their agent.
Send your counter-notice through our contact page with the subject line "DMCA Counter-Notice."
Repeat Infringer Policy
In accordance with the DMCA and other applicable laws, we maintain a policy of restricting access to, or removing content from, repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances. We may also take other actions, in our sole discretion, to address infringement.
Designated DMCA Agent
Our designated agent for receiving notifications of claimed infringement under the DMCA is reachable through the contact page. The site is operated by Robert Tew. The official agent registration is maintained with the United States Copyright Office where required.
Other Intellectual Property Concerns
If you believe content on the site infringes a trademark, right of publicity, or other right that you hold, please contact us through the contact page with the details. We will review the concern and respond promptly.
How We Use Quote Cards and Images
The share-image cards on this site are original works created by Live Life Happy. They combine a short attributed quote with our own typography, layout, and branding. You are welcome to download and share them for personal, non-commercial use, as long as you do not remove the "livelifehappy.com" watermark or attribution.
Linking to Live Life Happy
You are welcome to link to any page on this site. We ask only that you do not present our content in a way that suggests endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation that does not exist.
Mistakes and Corrections
Quote attribution on the internet is famously imperfect. Many quotes that are popularly attributed to one person were actually said by another, or appear in slightly different forms in different sources. We do our best to attribute accurately, but if you spot an error, please let us know and we will look into it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Copyright Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes.
